Tuesday August 18th • Circling the Cliffs of the Escarpment
Wiarton is the third stop on our Inroads Festival tour. It is being presented in conjunction with Gateway Haven, which is home to many of the region's elders and a great many stories about the Niargra Escarpment (an imposing geological formation that encircles Wiarton, and defines the look of the town. As such, the activities of the day will explore the significance of the escarpment to the people of Wiarton. There will be a story-sharing and song-writing session from 1:30-2:30 PM, with residents of Gateway Haven, members of the community, and festival artists collaborating on the writing of an Escarpment song. There will also be an evening concert beginning at 6:30 PM that will feature sets by the artists and a finale performance of the new song! Both the concert and the song-writing session will take place in the sanctuary at Gateway Haven.
